Postpartum Norms, the Shock Index and BUBBLE-HE Rounds

Postpartum vital signs are read against postpartum norms. A heart rate of 48 is expected; a heart rate of 108 never is. Bradycardia to 40–60 and a white cell count of 25,000 are ordinary, and a normal blood pressure is no reassurance at all about bleeding. Run the console, calculate a shock index, walk a patient letter by letter through BUBBLE-HE, make the bladder call that a displaced fundus demands, and decide what you may hand to unlicensed assistive personnel.
