The Five-Minute Clock and the Rising Pressure

Three neurological and musculoskeletal emergencies of childhood are defined by time and by which sign arrives first. Run a seizure against a live clock and give the weight-based drug on schedule; click the signs of raised intracranial pressure on an infant and on an older child and see which ones are early and which mean herniation is imminent; then triage a cast round and build the safe-care checklist for four problems that are lost or saved at the bedside.
