Localise the Failing Motor Unit — and Trend the Breath

Every disorder in this chapter breaks the same relay — cortex to corticospinal tract to anterior horn cell to peripheral nerve to neuromuscular junction to muscle — and the exam tells you where. Build a finding profile on the left and watch the level declare itself. Then switch to the respiratory bench, because whatever the label on the whiteboard, these patients all die of the same thing.
Five questions, one localisationPick what your hands and your penlight actually found. The bench scores the profile against all five levels of the motor unit and shows you which one it fits — and where the profile is internally inconsistent.
