The Therapeutic Frame: Phases and Boundaries

The therapeutic relationship is structured, time-limited and deliberately one-directional — and it only stays therapeutic while the frame holds. Read each moment and place it: first into one of the four phases, then onto the line between holding the frame, a boundary crossing, and a boundary violation. Every answer explains what the moment tells you about the nurse as well as the patient.
