Judge the Food-Safety Claim

Claims about additives and processing are everywhere. The skill isn't memorizing which are true — it's learning to weigh each one. Pick a claim, then compare how strong it sounds against how strong the evidence actually is. The scale tips when the two don't match.

Both weights run 0–10. When a claim sounds far stronger than its evidence, the claim pan sinks — a signal it's overstated, not that the topic is dangerous.
Common food claimstap one to weigh it
Four questions for any food claim: 1) How much — is a dose considered, or just "contains"? 2) Who — which people, how many? 3) How strong is the evidence — a blinded trial, or one observational study? 4) Any overreach — words like always / never / everyone, or a single food that "causes" or "cures"?
