Mendelian Genetics Lab

Breed pea plants for one to three genes and watch observed ratios close in on expected ones, with a live chi-square test; practise Punnett, probability, chi-square and pedigree problems with animated worked solutions; match inheritance patterns to examples; and use genetics in real situations. Nothing here is graded.

Simplifications: genes assort independently (no linkage), every zygote survives, and each offspring is drawn by chance from the parents' gametes. Gene A is flower colour, gene B is seed colour, gene C is seed shape. In epistasis mode, gene A sets the pigment (purple, or pink if aa) and bb blocks all pigment, giving white flowers. The chi-square critical values use p = 0.05; the test needs an expected count of at least 5 in every class.
