Cellular Respiration Lab

Run a working mitochondrion: turn oxygen and glucose up and down, add poisons and uncouplers, and watch ATP, NADH, the proton gradient, oxygen use and lactate respond. Then practise the accounting, sort the pathway, and read real experiments. Nothing here is graded.

MeasureValue

A teaching model of one working muscle cell, with rounded values. It assumes ATP demand stays high, glucose is the only fuel, cytosolic NADH is shuttled into the mitochondrion at full value, and the cell turns extra pyruvate into lactate. Each moving shape stands for a huge number of molecules, and everything is sped up. Percentages compare with the normal, well-oxygenated cell. Lactate is shown on a rough teaching scale. Complex IV binds O₂ so tightly that respiration keeps up until O₂ is very low, which is why lactate appears only near the bottom of the oxygen slider.
