Simplified model. Genetic distance is a 0 to 1 index of how different the two gene pools are; with gene flow it levels off near 1 / (1 + 4Nm), the classic result for migrants per generation (Nm). Hybrid fertility falls as incompatible gene combinations pile up, slowly at first and then faster (the "snowball" pattern), and gene flow slows that build-up. Time is in thousands of generations and the scale is illustrative. A polyploidy event makes 4n plants whose crosses with 2n plants give mostly sterile 3n offspring.
Problems are randomly generated with made-up species and numbers. Chromosome counts are whole numbers. Percent answers can be typed as 71, 71% or 0.71 and are accepted within 1 percentage point. Clock answers are accepted within about 2%.
Your job
Drag a card onto a box, or tap a card and then tap the box's name. Cards are buttons, so Tab and Enter work too.
Graphs marked illustrative use simplified numbers shaped like published results so the pattern is easy to read. They are teaching examples, not real data sets.
Wrong picks are fine here. Each one tells you why.
