A simplified teaching model of a person without diabetes. The amount of glucose reaching the blood is scaled by the food's glycemic index, and its speed by how fast the food is digested (fiber, fat and intact structure slow it). Values are rounded from published GI tables; real responses vary from person to person and meal to meal. The insulin resistance setting weakens insulin's effect and raises insulin release, as in early type 2 diabetes. Not for personal medical decisions.
Products are made up for practice. Look at the first ingredient: the word "whole" (or a grain that is always whole, such as oats or brown rice) tells you a grain is whole. Names such as "multigrain", "wheat bread" or a brown colour do not.
The picture updates with the answer you type. The worked solution builds step by step; units that cancel are struck out in red.
