Reading the Evidence Lab

Build a virtual trial and watch participants get randomized, improve and drop out, then run it again and again to grow a forest plot; practise risk numbers with animated worked solutions; match designs and biases; and read real claims. Nothing here is graded.

Simplified model for learning. Pain is on a 0 to 10 scale. Each person's improvement = natural recovery + random person to person variation (SD 1.6 points) + context and placebo response (both arms with a sham control, treatment arm only with a wait list) + the true specific effect (treatment arm only). Scores are kept between 0 and 10. Analysis compares completers only, with a 95% confidence interval from a normal approximation. The 1 point worthwhile line is a teaching choice. Up to 80 dots per arm are drawn.
